  1. To house, curate, celebrate, and showcase independently published books and zines from Australia and abroad;
  2. To make our collection accessible to members of the community from all socio-economic, cultural and linguistic backgrounds;
  3. To create and facilitate accessible in-person events designed around our collection of publications - this includes pop ups, exhibitions, zine fairs and workshops via the School of Zines

Thank you for your continued support.

Established in 2024.

Wolfbound Books (WBB) is a book distro and zine library dedicated to supporting independent micro/small presses, self-publishers and zine makers from across Australia and abroad.

WBB is the brainchild of Aphrodite D. (Founder of Illographo Press and School of Zines).Aphrodite runs the book studio with her partner Maricris and a group of ‘zine-terns’ - Lance, Malcolm, Alessandra, and Rafa. WBB also collaborates with a network of local and international artists, writers and independent publishers.

Wolfbound Books started in Aphrodite’s art studio at home, born out of frustration with the lack of “third places” like independent bookshops and community hubs in the Hawkesbury and Greater Western Sydney region, and the scarcity of publishing opportunities and authentic representation of Filipinx, South East Asian and BIPOC creatives in the book industry in general. Aphrodite identified the importance of physical spaces in building community, fostering connection and empowering creavitiy, and established WBB to help fill the gap. Using our personal savings, we rented a little studio at Joynton Acenue Creative Centre (JACC) in Zetland, traded books in person, and tabled at various zine fairs. In June 2024, WBB launched an online shop due to a high volume of zine submissions. We’ve always felt that our work belongs in our own community in Western Sydney so in August 2024 we moved to our current residence at the Arts & Cultural Exchange in Parramatta. We held our first Open Day and School of Zines workshop on 7th September 2024, thanks to the generous support of the ACE team.

Our residency at ACE will conclude at the end of 2025. We'll take our love of art, books and zines on the road and across oceans, and we will bring our community spirit with us wherever we go.

Wolfbound Books, Illographo Press, and School of Zines are passion projects––born out of love. We do not receive any public or private funding and are, therefore, not bound by any external pressure or influence. All proceeds from our products and services are invested back into our operations, creative projects, community engagement and advocacies. As a community, we are sustained by art, not profit. We are guided by ethics, not economics. We are human-centred and in tune with the volatile state of the world, constantly adapting to the changing needs of our community whilst balancing our own capacity as a self-funded initiative. We are rewriting our purpose and reshaping the way we work to strengthen our commitment to the global Boycott, Divest and Sanction movement and to follow through with our Breaking Up with Big Tech Manifesto.

Wolfbound Books Community

WBB is community of bold, passionate, and thriving creatives who are changing the world, one print at a time. We house a diverse collection of publications produced by local and international independent small/micro presses, self-publishers and zine makers.
